Manitobans appreciate the precious days of summer as they are often all too few. When enjoying the lake, an approaching cloud is only a challenge to get in one more swim!

When friends moved to Charleswood they introduced us to two new treasures. One was the always delicious and wonderful Capital Grill. I will be forever thankful to Greg and Wayne for the opportunity to exhibit there. The other was the Harte Trail. What a beautiful oasis right here in Winnipeg.

Clear Lake, Manitoba is one of our provincial treasures. The blue on blue with only a nod to the land fascinates me. The rocks close to shore being able to show off their colours is a special treat.

I’ve always been amazed by Frank Lloyd Wright’s design of Fallingwater that was completed in 1937. I’m drawn to the Prairie style with its long horizontals.

September brings the harvest. The air is filled with the dust of the crops, and the sunsets cast a warm orange light over the changing leaves that are yet to fall. Photo credit to the talented artist Monika Kinner-Whalen. Check out her art at mysweetprairie.ca

We were driving west towards the Pembina Hills, when I spotted a field of purple flax in the distance. As we got closer I saw the ribbon of canola still in bloom as well. What luck!

My husband and I love to hit the country roads and take photos. One morning we found a freshly harvested field that we could easily access. I was fascinated by the tracks and how when so close you could see many more colours than you would see from the road.

The photo that inspired this painting has a special meaning for me. It was taken on a magical day that had my husband, my son and myself all trying to capture the beauty of our surrounding with our cameras.

The clouds in this painting remind me so much of the amazing skies we see on the prairies. The new challenge I found in this one was to capture the movement in the grass from the wind.

I've always loved the tall grasses in the ditches that change to a beautiful orange and red for only a brief time in fall. This early sunset photo was taken near Landmark, MB. I was inspired by the reflection of our big prairie sky in the water filled tractor tracks.

A winter scene was requested for this commissioned work. The photograph was taken in Sandilands, a favourite spot for our family when we first moved out to Steinbach. I had never painted snow before. Who would have thought so many colours would be needed!
